Haiti › Design Innovative for Beading, Embroidery, and Applique Artisans (DIA)

For the DIA project, we partnered with Martine Blanchard McCluskey from IRPAH and Nathalie Tancrede of ABN to modernize textile designs through workshops for artisans in Les Cayes and Port-au-Prince. The aim was to create innovative collections for fashion accessories and home décor that cater to the latest market trends and attract new buyers. Artisans were trained to produce new products for the October Artisanat en Fete, with two successful design innovation workshops hosted to enhance their skills.

Key Achievements:

  • Conducted workshops to modernize textile designs, focusing on beaded embroidery and applique techniques.

  • Created innovative collections for fashion accessories and home décor that respond to international market trends.

  • Trained artisans in Les Cayes and Port-au-Prince to produce new products, enhancing their skills and market readiness.
