Global › MADE51 Global Workshop 2022

In November 2022, Aid to Artisans partnered once again with MADE51, a UNHCR initiative, to deliver a virtual Training Workshop Series for refugee-led Local Social Enterprises (LSEs). Spanning two weeks, the program consisted of four interactive three-hour workshops designed to strengthen marketing, logistics, and product development capacities for LSEs operating in the global handmade sector.

Over 40 participants engaged with expert-led sessions covering key business development themes, including social media marketing, storytelling through newsletters and blogs, export logistics and international shipping, trade show display and booth setup, and 2023 design trends. Each session featured a dynamic mix of presentations, panel discussions, small-group exercises, and Q&A with industry experts. The workshop provided LSEs with practical tools and knowledge to refine their branding, enhance their market readiness, and align product offerings with global trends.

Key Achievements:

  • Delivered 4 focused virtual workshops combining expert training and peer-led breakout discussions.

  • Explored core business topics: digital marketing, logistics, export readiness, booth display, and trend forecasting.

  • Featured insights from industry leaders including Marcella Echavarría, Nathalie Tancrede, Benita Singh, Agus Cattaneo, and ATA’s Lauren Barkume.

  • Strengthened the capacity of refugee enterprises to tell their stories and reach new markets.
