Djibouti › Women Empowerment and Communities’ Enhancement

We, in collaboration with the Ministry of Women and Family (MFF) in Djibouti, i, organized training workshops to enhance the artisanal skills of women in the interior regions. The training focused on developing new designs for fashion accessories and home decorations, preparing artisans for an exhibition on Independence Day, and equipping them with skills in price calculation and quality control. The project also aimed to ensure that artisans could pass on their knowledge to peers and maintain ongoing technical support.

Key Achievements:  

  • Organized training workshops that enhanced the artisanal skills of women in interior regions, focusing on beading and basketry.

  • Developed new product lines in fashion accessories and home decorations, preparing artisans for an exhibition on Djibouti's Independence Day.

  • Trained artisans in price calculation and provided product sheets to help them market their creations effectively.

  • Ensured knowledge transfer by training facilitators and encouraging artisans to share skills with peers in their villages.

  • Established a system for ongoing technical follow-up and developed a checklist for quality control to maintain high standards.
